Victoria’s 2001 Porsche 996.1

Hi Victoria! could you share a little about yourself and how your love affair with cars started?

I’m Victoria, born and raised in CT, and I drive a 2001 Porsche 996.1 in Lapis Blue over Graphite Grey.
I grew up recognizing and paying attention to cars from an early age, often identifying them by their tail lights—the shapes, the sounds, and the smells are deeply embedded in my nostalgic memories. My dad had some Porsches, BMWs, and Mercedes when I was young, so I spent many weekends at track days, rallies, and other car events. Over the years, this has naturally translated into me attending events on my own.

What made you decide to get a Porsche? What drew you to the 996, and what do you love most about it?

Porsche has always been my favorite marque, tied to fond memories with both the cars and the people in the Porsche community. You have the purists, the modifiers, and the racers—what’s not to love?
My dad’s first Porsche was a 996 C2, just like mine, so I guess I’m starting my journey into enthusiast cars along a similar path.
The 996 is a future classic. It’s new enough to offer creature comforts but old enough to have a nostalgic charm. I think it blends the best of both worlds perfectly.

Have you made any unique modifications to your Porsche?

Not yet, I’ve only had her for a few weeks. I’ll probably keep her mostly stock; it doesn’t feel like she needs much change, but time will tell.

What future modifications or upgrades do you have planned? Are there any modifications you’re particularly excited about?

I’m planning to update the infotainment with the PCCM system, and maybe the audio system too—listening to good music while driving is a big thing for me.

What other cars are on your bucket list?

Where to begin… The 964 holds a special place in my heart, especially in purple or white—or maybe a blue to match the 996. Add a 993 Turbo, an M car, and a G-Wagen to the stable, and I’d be a pretty happy lady.

What’s your go-to playlist when you’re behind the wheel?

My playlist changes by the hour. It could be anything from house music, reggaeton, classic rock, blues, jazz, to hip-hop and R&B. If it has a good beat and makes me feel something, I’m listening to it.

Where can we catch you and your Porsche next? Any upcoming events or favorite spots?

You’ll probably see me pop up at something in the tri-state area on any given Saturday or Sunday morning. Between a Cars and Coffee in Brooklyn with Wheels of NYC, Sunday Motor Co. in NJ, or Caffeine & Carburetors in CT, I try to get out as much as I can. Meeting so many awesome people in this community and admiring the beautiful cars and the stories behind them are real highlights for me.

Who’s your go-to mechanic? Are there other shops you highly recommend?

I know there are a lot of great shops around, but I haven’t had to bring her in yet—open to suggestions!

What advice would you give to someone just starting their journey with an older Porsche?

When you’re just getting into the car, listen to the sounds it makes, take in the smells, and feel the materials. Let these moments become memories that last a lifetime—your “First Porsche” experience.
